Romanian start-ups take centre stage at Iceland Innovation Week
Innovation Norway and Icelandic partners have come together to bring 13 innovative Romanian start-ups to the upcoming Iceland Innovation Week (13-17 May 2024) Following the OK, bye Climate Summit, this event aims to spotlight Romanian tech disruptors working in health tech and circular economy.
Set in a weekend flea market in Reykjavik’s Old Harbour - where both in-person and live-streamed participation is highly welcomed - the event becomes a focal point for collaboration, linking Romanian start-ups with the lively Icelandic tech scenes.
Innovation Norway is Norway’s main agency for innovation, growth and internationalisation of Norwegian companies. The EEA Grants are the contribution of Norway and Iceland to cohesion and cooperation in Europe. Innovation Norway’s office in Romania operates EEA programmes of more than 100 million euros aimed at cooperation between Romania, Norway and Iceland within innovation, the green transition and energy. The programmes have financed impressive startups in Romania that have developed innovative solutions within the focus areas of Iceland Innovation Week. See more!

-Shed light on funding opportunities through EEA Grants for Icelandic companies, encouraging partnerships and involvement in climate and tech innovation projects.

The agenda features pitches by Romanian start-ups in tech disruption, health tech, and circular economy, followed by matchmaking sessions during the main event with the aim of nurturing collaborations. Separately, an EEA and Norway Grants in Romania booth will enhance visibility at the Founders event.
Innovation Norway's key Icelandic partners are there to guide Romanian start-ups along the journey. Business Iceland shares insights into the Icelandic start-up scene, and Rannis discusses funding opportunities for Icelandic companies through the EEA Grants.
Innovation Norway facilitates the implementation of great ideas irrespective of financial capacity, therefore travel grants will be provided to the selected EEA and Norway Grants Romanian start-ups.
We are now stepping into Icelandic territory by paving the way for ongoing international cooperation in the technology and innovation landscape. "Romanian Innovators Take Center Stage at Iceland Innovation Week 2024" promises a showcase of innovation and meaningful connections for the future.
Open Call for Bilateral Cooperation in the Green Transition
The open call is available for applications from Romania and from Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein. The aim of the call is cooperation on activities that contribute to the green transition in bilateral partnerships. The call makes available financing to cooperation, feasibility studies, the development of new solutions and training activities that can be implemented within 2024.

SMEs Growth Romania is a business development programme aiming to increase value creation and sustainable growth in the Romanian business sector.
