Romania: Developing innovative and environmentally-friendly labels
Founded in 1991, Rottaprint is the first and largest flexographic printing company producing self-adhesive labels and flexible packaging in Romania. Starting as a small family business, they are now in the top companies in the field, delivering quality products and creative solutions to our customers.
The implementation of the project financed by EEA and Norway Grants gave them the opportunity to develop in record time actions to protect the environment, improve production efficiency, introduce new products in their portfolio and improve the quality of their products.
The main outputs were the develop of highly innovative products in the portfolio, smart labels based on technology such as RFID, EAS and NFC, and the implementation of new production lines for these products.
All of the developments also helped the company to create six new jobs, improve its profitability and increase turnover by 40% while improving the environmental impact.

Thus, by purchasing new state-of-the-art equipment with low energy consumption, the company managed in a short time to significantly reduce technological waste, to improve the productivity of printers and the quality of their work and increase the quality of value-added products. All this helping them reduce:
• energy consumption by 151,872 MWh/year
• the consumption of raw materials by 36.94 tons/year
• the quantity of process waste by 18.37 tons/year
