Bilateral Initiative within Business Development and Innovation Croatia Programme fosters long-term Croatian-Norwegian cooperation

Innovation Norway’s recent call for proposals marked a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations between Croatia and Norway. From 49 applications received, 12 outstanding initiatives received a financial support, amounting to Euro 788.021 in total. The focus areas of the Initiatives were again, Blue Growth and Green Industry Innovation. These initiatives not only tackle pressing environmental and technological challenges but also lay the groundwork for long-term cooperation between businesses, research institutions, and industry leaders in both countries.

Key Focus Areas

The supported projects span a diverse range of sectors, including sustainable aquaculture, renewable energy, smart cities, advanced marine technology, and green transport systems. Many initiatives emphasize the integration of innovative technologies such as digital twins, remote sensing, AI-driven data analysis, and autonomous systems. Others address crucial environmental challenges, like reducing CO₂ emissions, fostering circular economy practices, and developing biotechnological solutions for waste management and resource recycling.

A recurring theme across the projects is sustainability. Whether it’s advancing eco-friendly fish farming techniques, exploring small-scale hydropower potential, or promoting cleaner transport solutions in the Adriatic Sea, these initiatives aim to contribute to the green transition while ensuring economic competitiveness.
